May 19th, 2008 Update

Summer is almost here and our 1st year Anniversary is just around the corner. In honor of our one year opening we would like to extend a special to our subscribers. During the month of June you will have the opportunity to save 20% on your entire purchase with a one day shopping pass. This will exclude books, magazines, and tools. Print the savings pass below and present it to get the discount. Your ID will be required as well.

You may or may not know we have new store hours. Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Sunday we are closed. We apologize for any inconvenience this has created by being closed on Sundays, however we really enjoy having a quiet day to ourselves.

The May class schedule is in full swing. Classes for June will be scaled back to about 3 to 4 classes per week because it is summer and we plan on taking a few breaks to do some traveling starting with the Bead & Button show in Milwaukee. This will not affect our operating hours.

Due to the increased cost of gold and silver, we are attempting to expand our base metal/pewter findings, and copper findings. It is a slow process because locating quality metal findings is not an easy task. We still intend on carrying our regular inventory of the precious metal findings.

Some upcoming things to take us into the fall:

Look for the July/August Bead & Button magazine. The magazine will feature a project submitted by, Gail, the owner/teacher of the shop. Some of you already have “a foot up” because you attended the class when it was offered in the fall of 2007. The class was called the Rivoli Victorian Earrings. It has been renamed Picot Stitch Rivoli Dangles (psst.... we got a sneak preview!).

Some of our customers (and class attendees) travel coast to coast (and abroad) in order to take classes from “featured and famous artists”. So at the earging of some of our patrons, we have plans in the works to bring some of these world renowned artists to Bead Haven. Our goal is to have a featured artist at least once every three months. After we get a few “under our belt”, we hope to add “special” classes more frequently if there is a demand. As with most “special” appearances, there will be a class charge. This does not include materials or “kits” per say.

During our hiatus we will be getting lots of new ideas, patterns, etc. for some new classes. Look forward to some new stuff in September!!!
